How to create a personalized music playlist using MU3 (Windows)

The Surfans player supports automatic playlist generation by scanning file attributes such as artist, album, and genre. Users can also create favorite playlists or organize music manually using the file explorer. Additionally, Surfans provides a more flexible way to create playlists—by using M3U software on Windows or TextEdit on Mac to generate custom playlists.

Here are the steps to create an M3U playlist on Windows.

Step 1: Connect the Player to a Computer

  1. On the player, set the USB mode to USB(Player->system setting->USB mode).
  2. Connect the player to a computer using a USB cable.

Step 2: Install the M3U Software

  1. Download and extract the M3U software package.(The download link can be found at the end of the article.).
  2. Double-click the M3U Dropper.exe to open the software interface.

Step 3: Add Music Files

Select the music source files to load into the software or drag and drop music files into the selection box within the M3U interface.

Note: Ensure that the file path points to the player’s memory card, not a local folder on your computer. If the path points to local files on your computer, the playlist will not work correctly as the files will not be found by the player.

Step 4: Create and Save the Playlist

  1. After selecting the songs, click Create Playlist(F3).
  2. Save the playlist file to the memory card of the player.

Step 5: Disconnect and Play the Playlist

  1. Safely disconnect the player from the computer.
  2. On the player, go to Player -> Explorer -> TF Card, find the M3U playlist file, and play it.

How to create a personalized music playlist using MU3 (MAC)

The Surfans player supports automatic playlist generation by scanning file attributes such as artist, album, and genre. Users can also create favorite playlists or organize music manually using the file explorer. Additionally, Surfans provides a more flexible way to create playlists—by using M3U software on Windows or TextEdit on Mac to generate custom playlists.

Here are the steps to create an M3U playlist on Mac.

Step 1: Create a New Plain Text Document

  1. Open>TextEdit in Applications–then>File>New.
  2. From the Format Tab select>Make Plain Text.

Step2:Add Tracks to the Playlist File

  1. Go to your music application&set to TRACKS so you can see each individual track.
  2. Copy or drag each track you want for Playlist into the Text document you have just created.

Note: After each track is inserted, remember to press ENTER to select a new line to insert the next track.

Step3:Ensure the File Structure Matches

As an example, a Music folder has been created in the Surfans Player file structure with> Artist> Album> Track (s). You MUST have exactly the same file structure in your .m3u Playlist Doc otherwise the Playlist will notwork.

Step4:Modify the File Path

Suppose the file structure on this MacBook is: /Users/*****/Music/Sept21Lossless/Media.Localized/Music/……. We only need it to be:/Music/…….

To change: In TextEdit go to:>Edit>Find>Find and Replace. Then,in the FIND box copy the text of the file structure we no longer require, that is: / Users/ *****/ Music/ Sept21Lossless/ Media.Localized.

Leave the Replace box empty then press the ALL button. This should remove all the parts of the structure, for all tracks, that is not needed for the Playlist.

Step5:Save the Playlist File

Once the Playlist is complete, ensure your Player is plugged in your Mac and in the USB mode.

In>TextEdit>Save>give your Playlist a name(here we have used Playlist1 as an example).

When saving the file, make sure to use the .m3u format. In this example, the file will be named Playlist1.m3u.

After saving, eject your Surfans Player from your PC, the files should then re-index automatically and the Playlist you have just created should now be select able in the settings.
